Website design that lets customers see what you do

Website design is easy to put off when your diary is full. Yet people who hear your name often look you up online first. If they find nothing, they cannot see what you do.

You get a website that shows your work and tells customers how to reach you. If you have no copy, I write it; you supply photos and a few answers. First you get a proposal with the price, then you decide.

Does this sound familiar?

  • I have plenty of work, but anyone who types in my business name finds nothing.
  • Customers ask for photos of earlier jobs. I send them one by one over WhatsApp.
  • I know nothing about websites and have no time to work it out.
  • I do not want to be sold something I do not need.

What you get when you have a website built

Not a package with a name, but a site that fits what you do. This is always part of it.

What you get What it does for you
Pages about what you do A page for each service, plus the area you work in and your contact details. That lets a visitor see whether they have come to the right place.
Easy to read on phone and large screen The design starts with the phone, then the large screen follows. Your site reads well on both.
Your own work on show Your photos of earlier jobs get their own place on your site. When a customer asks for them, you send a link instead of photos one by one over WhatsApp.
Copy in plain language You do not have to write anything yourself: you talk about your work and I turn it into copy. If you already have copy, that stays the basis.
The basics for Google Every page gets a clear title, a description and a logical structure. That lets Google read what you do and where. You get no promise of a place at the top: nobody can give one.
A form for enquiries A customer can send a message or ask for a quote, also while you are out on a job.
One point of contact You call and e-mail the person who builds the site. There is no account manager in between.

Three websites you can see for yourself

What this gives you: you see how such a site works before you have one made. I built two for clients, the third is my own; the label on each site says which.

How it works, from your first message to a site that is online

  1. You send a message or call

Say what kind of business you have and what you are missing. Nothing more is needed at that point.

  2. You answer a few questions

What do you do, for whom and in which area? And what should a visitor be able to do: call, ask for a quote, look at your work?

  3. You get a proposal

It states which pages you get, what you supply yourself and what it costs. Only then do you decide.

  4. You see your site before it goes online

I build the site, you look at it and pass on your changes. How often you can do that is in the proposal.

  5. Your site goes online

What you can expect after delivery is already in the proposal. So you know it before you decide.

Ask for your proposal with a price

What does website design cost?

A website is custom work, so the price is on request. What your site costs depends on what you need; the two lists below show where you have a say in the price yourself. You get a proposal with the price before you decide anything.

What the price depends on

This makes it cheaper

  • A few pages: what you do, for whom, contact
  • You supply the copy and the photos
  • You already have a logo and fixed colours
  • Information and a contact form only
  • One language

This makes it more expensive

  • Many pages, for example a separate page for every town you work in
  • All the copy is written for you
  • The style still has to be chosen
  • Extra features, such as an extensive quote form or online payment
  • Two languages

The proposal states which pages you get, what you supply yourself and what it costs.

Questions about website design

How long does it take to have a website made?

That depends on the number of pages and on how soon the copy and the photos are there. That is why there is no fixed timescale here. Your proposal gives you a schedule that fits your site.

What do I have to supply myself?

Photos of your work, your logo if you have one, and answers to a few questions about your business. You do not have to supply copy: I write it from what you tell me.

Can ChatGPT not simply make a website?

Not without you. A chatbot can write text and code, but it does not know what you do, for whom, or why a customer should call you.

AI is used for your website too, as a tool for writing and building. I check the result myself.

Will a new website put me in Google straight away?

Not straight away. Google usually finds a new site by itself, but that can take days to weeks. Your site is built so that Google can read it; nobody can promise you a place at the top.

If you want to do more about being found, that takes work on search terms and copy. That is what the SEO packages are for: copy and a plan for being found in Google.

Do I have to be in Bussum or Hilversum to have a website made?

No. If you are in Bussum, Naarden or Hilversum, it is round the corner: Toss it Online is based in Bussum. If you are somewhere else, you arrange everything by phone and e-mail.

I already have a website, but it is out of date. Can you help with that too?

Yes. First you will hear which parts of your current site can stay and what has to be redone. After that it goes as described above: you get a proposal and then you decide.

Ask for your proposal with a price

Say what kind of business you have and what you are missing. Your message is read by the person who builds your site. Calling or e-mailing works too.
